Ounasvaara Upper Secondary School is located in Rovaniemi, the northernmost part of the Finnish Lapland.
In our school you have the opportunity to complete your high school studies according to your personal study path. General Upper Secondary School
We provide students with extensive general knowledge and the readiness for further studies. Studies usually last 3-4 years (150 credits in total) depending on the student’s personal schedule. At the end of their studies, students take the Finnish National Matriculation Examination. Studying, learning materials (computers, books, digital materials), and lunch are free for students.
Sports Academy

Ounasvaara Sports Academy is a part of Ounasvaara Upper Secondary School. It is the only official sports academy in Lapland.
You apply to sports high school through a joint application system. The main sports are alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, football, ice hockey, volleyball, ski jumping / Nordic combined and athletics. In addition, swimming has its own sports coach. Sports training is organized for at least six hours a week. Athletes from other sports can also be admitted to the sports academy. Completing studies in a flexible way is possible, e.g. preparing for and participating in important competitions and international camps. Those who have already studied in another upper secondary school for a year can also apply to the Sports Academy. Sports Academy students belong to the Lapland Sports Academy and receive all the benefits it offers. Support services for athletes include e.g. massage and physiotherapy, spa, medical services, as well as nutritional counseling and psychological coaching. |

Combined studies

While applying to schools, students may also choose to study combined studies in addition to upper secondary education.
Every student makes their own plan for upper secondary school studies and matriculation exams.
By completing both vocational and upper secondary studies, the students will become highly trained professionals ready for working life!
